Photo Remembrance Archive

This page is dedicated to the memory of feline friends whose memory will always live on in our hearts. My thanks to all those devoted slaves who continue to keep in touch even when it is to impart the sad news that their dearly loved little friend has gone to feline heaven. I sincerely hope that there will be many years between new pictures being added to this page; as I hope that both Tonkyway and Sialaxy cats and kittens will live long and happy lives giving love and pleasure to many families. Each of these felines has it own special place in our hearts and their unique personalities cannot ever be replaced, but to live without one of these intelligent, adorable loving little felines is to deny ourselves the love of a true friend.

I WILL LEND YOU

I will lend to you for a while a kitten. God said
For you to love while he lives, and mourn when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three.
But will you, 'til I call him back, take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you and, should his stay be brief
You'll always have his memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught below I want this kitten to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true.
And from the folk that crowds life's land I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labour vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take my kitten home again?

I fancied that I heard them say "Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done”
For all the joys this kitten brings the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may.
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

But should you call him back much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by our love we've managed your wishes to achieve,
Then in memory of him whom we loved, please help us while we grieve.
When our cherished kitten departs this world of strife,
Please send yet another needing soul for us to love all his life.

GR.CH.Tonkyway Bournville Carina - 10 November 2010 - 9th September 2019
Very sad to learn that Carina passed away suddenly from Kidney disease. She was a beautiful girl and my first ever show cat. Carina gave me three litters of beautiful kittens and was retired in 2015. She was adopted by Roy and Jean of Bideford and enjoyed a very spoilt retirement, ambling around their garden and cuddling up under the duvet at night. She will be greatly missed.

Sialaxy Draco (Cooper) - 10th March 2019 - 29 July 2019 Euthanased following illness

Wicca Xing - 30th May 2010 - 3rd January 2019 (Heart failure)

I am devastated by the loss of my wonderful girl. Xing was the sweetest cat, she had this way of looking right into your soul. She played fetch in a way that demanded your full attention. Her death was very sudden with no indication or their being anything wrong. Xing had been retired for four years. In her lifetime she had four litters (17 kittens); At the time of her death she was a Great Great Grandcat. Her line will continue through her son Sialaxy Regulus (Prince William) who resides in USA; and her daughter Mei-xing; Grand-daughter "Andromeda"; Great Grand-daughters - "Donnatella" & XiaoXing; and Great Great Granddaughters "Zona" & "Eustella".

Tonkyway Zodiac Aurora - 14th December 2010 - 14th January 2019 (kidney failure)

Aurora was one of my first Tonkinese queens and was a brilliant mother. She produced six litters (36 kittens) during her breeding life. She was retired in August 2016 and went to live with one of her sons from her fourth litter (TonkywayZenith renamed Oscar) and Tom and Jenny in Wiltshire. She thoroughly enjoyed her life with them and could not have been more loved and pampered; they are heartbroken by her death, and Oscar is bereft. In the summer of 2018 Aurora & Oscar went to stay in a cattery whilst Tom and Jenny were on holiday, the Cattery owners were negligent in their care and Aurora has paid the ultimate price.

TONKYWAY SKYS DIPPER - 7th September 2007 - 14th August 2017
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I write this memorial to my darling boy Dip, the most loving friend and companion one could ever wish for. Dip was certainly a true ambassador for the Tonkinese breed, he greeted everyone that visited, often leaving his paw prints on their car. His friendly purring nature and athleticism gained him much admiration. He was a fearless and efficient hunter keeping the rabbit population under control along with eradicating squirrels and catching more unusual prey such as moles, stoats & slow worms. Dip was like my shadow, always there waiting patiently for me to complete my tasks, he loved to ride on my shoulders, particularly if the grass was wet or there was snow on the ground; but he also loved to just go for walks sometimes running ahead to race up a tree stump or jump onto a fence post. He would happily rest on the horses back whilst I cleaned the stable and indeed used to get himself up there in the summer months when the horse was in away from the flies - a vantage point for annoying the swallows.
A kitten from my first litter as a Breeder we always had that special bond and I am going to miss him so very much. He always enjoyed the freedom of the outside world along with his Mum - Sky and sister - Venus; all three would sleep on or in my bed. Dip would often wake me up by giving me an early morning face wash.
Goodbye my darling boy, you are forever in my heart.

Lintama Poseidon (Mr. Bubs/slinki) - 25 February 2011 - 9 March 2017. Euthanised following lifetime problems with IBD. He was the most friendly and affable Siamese who gave so much love and affection to everyone he met. Retired from stud in 2013 he was adopted by Trish. Definitely a one-off. A sire, Grand-sire, Great Grand-sire both here in the UK and also in USA. Truly a wonderful boy who will be greatly missed.

TONKYWAY VENUS 14 July 2008 - 16 June 2015
Born to Sky, my first Tonkinese, on my husbands birthday. One of a litter of 10, only three survived and Venus was the only female. Her mum Sky was so exhausted that she was unable to care for any of the kittens for the first few days so she was hand reared along with her brothers Leo and Subra. Venus grew up with her Mum and half brother "Dipper" and was always allowed the freedom to go outside, to hunt and roam the fields. She grew to be a large strong, healthy girl who never ailed anything and always looked in beautiful condition, even during pregnancy and lactation. She always had a good appetite and hunted the fields; she was bold and confident. Venus was the TONKYWAY foundation queen and gave birth for the first time at 18 months of age, over the next six years she produced a further six litters, a total of 37 kittens during her lifetime (18 boys & 19 girls). All the kittens were born either in or on my bed with me always being present. There have been 6 casualties, that I am aware of but the majority of these kittens/cats are alive and well today. Several of them were retained or went into other catteries as Breeding stock. I retained my show girl and Gr.Ch "Carina" from her second litter, IO & Jupiter from her fourth litter went as founder queen and pet to Natalie of Titantonks; From her 5th litter "Suli" went to Hillary of Hylily and I retained Capricorni as a stud boy and Nashira, who unfortunately died before her 1st birthday. From the sixth litter I retained "Columbae" and from her final litter I have kept Zohreh. Her family of kittens/cats have enjoyed success on the Show bench over the years and will continue to do so, but the majority of her family have gone as loving pets.
At the time of her death there are three generations of Venus bloodline - daughters, granddaughter, & Great Grand daughters. Her bloodline lives on but had she been allowed to enjoy her retirement who knows how many generations would have been achieved. Venus was the most loving cat, she slept in the bed with me most nights curled up beside me. If she was not with me she was with her Uncle Dip or mother Sky, whom she always respected. Her death was a complete shock and I am heartbroken, she should have been enjoying her retirement. Venus went in to be spayed, the operation was performed by a Locum vet, a mistake was made and she died from internal bleeding. She is missed by us all and will never be forgotten. To add to the sadness her mum "Sky" passed away on 5th July aged 12years 8 months. They are buried side by side here at home.
