Nine lovely healthy kittens born without any problems early this morning. Carina is coping well with all the little ones and is now consuming lots of food. There are plenty of little tabbies but I have not sexed them yet. Updates and pictures to follow.
Now five days old I have had a chance to sex the kittens and I think there are four females and five males. All kittens growing rapidly and most have their eyes open.
At two weeks of age Carina unfortunately developed mastitis and was unable to feed the kittens. So for the past week I have been surrogate mum feeding 5/6 times a day. The kittens have been great, all taking to the bottle well, they have not lost any weight, in fact they have all gained the normal amount of weight for their age. Some of them are now even starting to eat solid food as well. These kittens are very outgoing and extremely sociable. Carina is now on the road to recovery and although she has been ill she has always wanted to mother the kittens.
